Wednesday Sketch Challenge!

Today on The Digi Shack, you can see a sketch challenge! I so love sketches so I couldn't wait to use what Toni created for us:
Using the funny fish, Huffyfish, I took one of the sentiments from the store too and cut off the T and added an F for a pun on FIN (get it?!?!?!)
I used a shaped Jam Jar card from Paper Popsicles as the fish bowl on this one too. Let's see what you can do...go to The Digi Shack and post your creations with the sketch!

Ribbon Therapy!

It is time for another installment of weekly CHALLENGES! This week's challenge will be to use ribbon on your projects. Our Designers came up with some spectacular projects! Ribbon can be used for so many fun things. Here, I used bits and pieces to create somewhat of a faux background on my card:

We would love to see what you come up with at Paper Popsicles! How can YOU use ribbon this week? Don't forget to load your project(s) using Mr. Linky HERE. For each entry, you get a chance to win the rak at the end of the month!

Ruff Day?

Today's challenge at The Digi Shack is to use an image and create a card that is anything but the standard A2 or square card. EASY PEASY for me seeing as though I LOVE LOVE LOVE Shaped cards! This one I made free hand (much easier when you buy the templates at Paper Popsicles my friends!)
I used the Ruff Day Dog and sentiment and colored the image with my water color pencils. I just focussed the coloring on the edges and watered it down toward the center of the image to create some depth in the field. The paper was the backside of some Cosmo Cricket from last summer's paper lines. I had an old felt frame from Fancy Pants (remember those felt packs?). I love using my old stuff up. It makes me feel so goooooooooood.
Try your hand at a nontraditional shaped card and load your link on The Digi Shack site today! Thanks for looking and Happy Scrapping.

Manic Monday!

Head over to The Digi Shack today and snag your FREEBIE IMAGE! Here is what I did with it!
I laughed when I saw this. I always joke that when my boss leaves town, the rest of the directors party in her absence. One person is in charge of the keg, one for tap, one for the frosty mugs, etc. I send an email out to all of them including my boss just for giggles. This card will be perfect the next time she leaves.......**giggling**

Egg--citing Stuff!

I try really hard at work to keep things light and fun. Life is too short to be so serious folks. That's why when one of my staffers asked if any of us balanced eggs on their ends on the first day of spring, I jumped on it. I asked her to bring in some eggs so we could try on Friday...just to test to see if our great earth was in balance. VOILA (and yes Marlene...and you know which Marlene you are...it is not wahlah...it starts with a V) it worked! Knowing that my 11 year would find this super cool, I tried it today at home with an egg and here you go:
Have you tried this as a kid? Super fun stuff here!

MARCH 20TH is the first day of spring, or vernal equinox as astronomers would have it. "Vernal" means "of or pertaining to spring." "Equinox" means "equal night." As the angle of the earth's inclination toward the sun changes throughout the year, lengthening or shortening the days according to season and hemisphere, there are two times annually when day and night are of more-or-less equal length: the spring and autumnal equinoxes. These celestial tipping points have been recognized for thousands of years and have given rise to a considerable body of seasonal folklore INCLUDING BALANCING EGGS ON THEIR ENDS!

Designer Papers and Digital Images!

The Digi Shack is challenging scrappers everywhere to create a project using one of their images and designer papers. Here I used the Ruff Day dog and my new Crate Papers, Pink Plum Collection.
Here is a close up. A rhinestone was used for his dog tag. I used a glitter pen for his collar.

I decided to put the sentiment that goes with the dog on the inside this time.

Why don't you check out what the other designers did. Their blogs are to the right in my sidebar :). If you like this image you can find it HERE in the store.

Erin Go Green TODAY!

So this week's challenge at The Digi Shack is to create a card with one of the digitals where green was the predominant color. Of course I was thinking St. Patrick's day but what I came up with was a sympathy card **sighs again**. But it is green!
The sentiment is from The Digi Shack. The cardstock is some old Basic Grey from my stash. I cut the cross with my Making Memories Slice using the Faith Cartridge. I watercolored the sentiment using my Distress Ink. I added plenty of Basic Grey rhinestones for a little fun.
Be sure to check out the other Shack Sistahs and what they did today! You can see their blog rolls to the right>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Wednesday's Dippin' Dot Digitals...

Ok...well, not really a digital day...**sigh** BUT it KINDA relates to Easter, our theme for the week at What's the Scoop. Ok, it is somewhat of a stretch there too...but let's see...

Easter...new beginnings...a rebirth...

Howz about a Wedding Invitation? New Life! New Beginnings! WHITE. TodayI am going to share with you the Cake Shaped card template. These templates are so easy to use. What's the Scoop/Paper Popsicles offers a wide selection of shaped card templates. You can print them out on your favorite cardstock and cut, OR you can convert them to an SVG file and cut using your Cricut (which I prefer...). What's better is that they only cost 99 CENTS and you can reuse them over and over and over again! Go see the HUGE selection HERE in the store.

I made 80 of these cards for one of my staff. She is getting remarried in May and they are just going to have a cake reception afterwards.

The Scoop: Cake shaped card template from Paper Popsicles, Swiss Dots folder from Cuttlebug, Martha Stewart punch, Cricut for flowers, Cricut Sure Cuts alot for initials using FLING font, Tulip pearl fabric paint.

Let's see what you can do with our Easter theme this week...Load your projects HERE for a chance to win this RAK at the end of the month:Thanks for looking and Happy Scrapping!

Lookin Like a Fool with No Green all around....

In an effort to avoid being pinched tomorrow on St. Patty's Day for not wearing green, I whipped together this little shamrock pin:

This was super fun and QUICK! I used my MM Slice Card (Calendar) for the shamrock. I ran it through my Cuttlebug using the swiss dots folder. THen I took a random, miscellaneous flower and cut it up so I had four petals and I stuck them on the shamrock. Using my Shimmerz Blingz, I added some pizzaz. I a little jute and a button and a Little Yellow Bicycle pearl completed the pin.
I will not be a fool, nor will I be caught with No Green all around....

Watercolor Wednesday!

This month we are featuring Water Color Techniques at The Digi Shack every Wednesday. I decided this week to play it safe and dig out my watercolor pencils. These are the tools I started out with about a year ago when coloring in images, both digital images and stamped images. They really blend terrific and you can shade super easily. Here is what the image looks like when you just color with the pencils.

Very much "crayon" like. But after you add a little water and a brush stroke, the tones even out and blend together creating a more flawless effect like this:
Throw the image on your project and VOILA! Instant pizzazz!

I hope you give watercoloring a try this week with your favorite digis! Or better yet, why don't you head over to The Digi Shack and pick up one of those digis, like these cherries for a BUCK and try the technique on those!?!?!?!

Check out what the rest of the team has done with watercoloring. You can find their blogs on the blogroll to the right>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The Digi Shack Blog Hop is TODAY!

Welcome to The Digi Shack's Spring Blog Hop!
Hopefully you HOPPED over to my blog from TAMMY's Blog HERE.

If you stumbled upon my blog and didn't come from Tammy's blog, you need to go to the beginning HERE to join in the fun at The Digi Shack main page.

Remember this blog hop is all about techniques, sketches, color combos, etc and there will be prizes and 2 grand prizes for the "biggest fan". The biggest fan winners will be chosen based on the amount of challenges they participated in. So everyone that participates in at least 5 different challenges will be entered to win ALL of our images.

Today, I am going to challenge you to paper peice your images. Images don't necessary have to be colored in with pencils or markers. They can be printed multiple times on printed papers, embossed, etc. and put together. Not only does this add interest, but it adds dimension to your project!

In this project, I printed the cherries three times on white cardstock. I then printed out the cherries three more times, this time using different cardstock colors. I carefully cut around my cherries and popped them up on pop dots.

The first cherry is EMBOSSED with my Cuttlebug Swiss dots folder.

The second cherry is filled in with Liquid Glass and and crackled.

The third is shimmered with my Shimmerz paint.

What can you do to take your image to the next level? Show us by linking your creation in the comments section of this post. If you particpate in my challenge, you just might win a free digi!
