Oddly spread your Birthday Love!

Kristy has been celebrating her 30th birthday all month long......might i say i am jealous that she is so young and talented?! You just HAVE to join her on her blog here.  She has had some wonderful tutorials from some equally talented friends and guests as well as from herself all month long including Copic coloring/shading, different card designs, different elements.  It has been an incredible month.  And if you link up to her blog you just never know if you will win something.  There are giveaways all month long so you have to look at all of the blog posts.  You won't know if you are a winner until after the 31st so what are you waiting for?  GO WISH KRISTY A HAPPY BIRTHDAY and see what you might learn!

Still a bit of Odd with Some Odd Girl!

This next challenge on the SOG Blog was to use an image from SOG and only color in black and white.  Not just print out and leave it.  I loved this challenge:
And of course the SOG Flickr group is having the 12 Weeks of Christmas.  Week 5 was to create a gift card holder.  Because Kristy, owner proprietor of  SOG is celebrating her birthday all month long, there have been some fabulous tutorials on her personal blog here,.   I have been soaking up the insipiration and the tutorials.

Cards that Care

I learned about this wonderful opportinitiy on Kristy's blog here.   As you know, I have been following the Odd Girl and Some Odd Girl for awhile now.  This cause is near and dear to me.  I am social worker and I work alot with nursing facilities in the area.

Cards that Care is a card drive that collects holiday/christmas cards to send to the elderly in nursing homes across America. Grandfathers and Grandmothers who may be missing their families or may just feel lonely this holiday season. Just by doing something you already love to do, cardmaking, you can send smiles, love and lift spirits. Please hop over to Vera’s blog to read all the details about how you can get in on this wonderful cause.

The details:
This card drive will be going on till November 31, 2011.
  • We will need to receive your cards by November 31, 2011.
  • Please make the cards for Christmas or Holiday Wishes. Anyone can send a card, your children, church group, scout troops, etc.
  • All cards need to have a message in it.  Please also sign your name and where you are from.  On the card envelope, write your name on the top left corner.  Also, please don't seal the envelope.
  • Please stick to just cards.
  • And please don't use any pins (safety reason).
You can mail the cards  to either one of these awesome ladies:

Jennifer McGuire                              Vera Yates
P.O. Box 428612                                P.O Box 17596
Cincinnati, OH 45242                        Sugar Land, TX 77496

In each package, PLEASE include a piece of paper with your name, address, email address and how many cards you sent.  This helps us in keeping track for prizes! For each card you send, you will get a chance.  So the more cards you send, the better your chances.

More Oddies for you!

I totally am in love with Some Odd Girl's images.  They are so fun and fresh.  This month, Kristy is celebrating her birthday all month with tutorials every day.  Some new ideas and some old.   Some refreshers too.  I am really enjoying the Copic tutorials as I am a Copic novice.   You can view the tutorials on her blog HERE and while you are there, grab her birthday badge and get in on her surprises this month!  On the SOG blog there are two challenges a month.  This first card, using one of the SOG new holiday releases, also uses a sketch.  With some of the new transitions shading techniques i learned on Kristy's blog, I was able to really do the pumpkin well:
On the Flickr Group, week 3 is about using craft brown paper and twine.    I just love this image and find so many uses for him!
ANd finally, week 4 on the Flickr group was to do a snowy theme.  I used one of the tutorials on Kristy's blog from the very beginning of the month to make this shadow box like card that goes flat for a regular size A2 mailing:
I wanted you to see the close up of the fuzzy earmuffs and boot cuffs using the heated up liquid applique.

Thanks for looking!

Getting so Odd with Some Odd Girl Digital Stamps!

Some Odd Girl is having a weekly challenge at their Flickr Group here.  They are doing the 12 Weeks of Christmas Holiday challenge. This week we are to create a card that has non-traditional Christmas colors.  One of the DT members has inspired me to NOT color in my digi so here it is:
On their Blog here, they are having a color inspiration using this:
My lighting is sucky but hereis what I came up with:
